How HelloStreet works
HelloStreet follows the same six steps for every project: scan the neighbourhood, reach every address, give neighbours a project page, answer every question from one inbox, follow what is going on, and show in a report what you heard and what you changed.

Step 1
New project and neighbourhood scan
Choose the type of project and draw the zone: a radius around a site or a corridor along a route. HelloStreet gathers what is known about the area and proposes a communication plan per phase.
- Addresses in the zone, including those without email
- Other works and applications nearby
- History, sensitive places and public signals
Step 2
Reach
Decide who you reach and how: all addresses, direct neighbours, shops, associations, schools and press. HelloStreet drafts the letter and messages in plain language; you approve them.
- A press release for local media, drafted for you
- A letter with a QR code for every address
- Channels per group and per phase
- Every message kept in the log
Homes on Lindenlaan 36: neighbours invited to an information evening
On 12 November, the project team presents the plans for 34 homes on the site of the old warehouse.
Step 3
The neighbour’s view
A neighbour scans the QR code and lands on the project page: what is planned, what it means for their street, the next steps. They can follow the project, react, report something on the map or ask the assistant.
- Site hoardings and banners with a QR code, designed print-ready
- No account needed to read or react
- ‘My street’: what it means where you live
- Answers from approved documents; your team sees the source
Step 4
Inbox
Every question, from every channel, lands in one inbox with the address, channel and theme. HelloStreet proposes a reply with sources; a team member approves it. Promises become numbered commitments.
- Web, email, phone, visits and meetings together
- Draft replies with sources, approved by a person
- A register of complaints and commitments
Step 5
Insights
See what is going on per theme, per street and per week. A weekly briefing tells you what changed and what to do next.
- Themes and sentiment on a map
- A weekly briefing with suggested actions
- Questions to your data in plain language
Step 6
Participation report
When it matters, for a permit application or the council, HelloStreet turns the log into a report: reach, what you heard, what you changed, commitments and open points.
- Built from the log, not from memory
- ‘You said, we did’ with references
- Ready to attach to a permit application
Questions and answers
How long does it take to set up a project?
Not long. You enter the address and draw the zone; you build up the rest step by step. We help you get started with your first project.
Do we need to change how our team works?
No. HelloStreet brings together what your team already does, letters, meetings, emails and calls, so it is easier to keep track of and report on.
Do we have to do all six steps?
No. You start where your project is now. A contractor often starts with the letter and site reports, a developer with the neighbourhood scan. Whatever you do goes into the same log.
Who approves the texts?
Always someone on your team. HelloStreet drafts letters, replies, press releases and reports; nothing goes to a neighbour or the press without approval.
Does it work for neighbours without a smartphone or internet?
Yes. A letter reaches every address, a site hoarding everyone who walks past, and calls and visits are logged in the inbox. Nobody misses out because they are not online.
Can we use our own house style?
Yes. Letters, project pages, site hoardings and, with the Organisation plan, the app use your logo and colours.
